We're excited to once again be part of a national effort to strengthen our community by registering hundreds of voters on September 25, 2018 known as National Voter Registration Day. This effort first started for the 2012 presidential election and has become a 50-state holiday where thousands of organizations and volunteers organize to ensure our family, friends and neighbors are registered to vote. As a result of these efforts, over 1.4 million voters have registered or updated their registration as a result of National Voter Registration Day event since 2012.
Why register in 2018? Aside from general elections, the midterm elections are the highest profile elections in the country and gives voters a chance to affect the makeup of both the House and the Senate. Additionally, 39 states will cast votes for who will be their next respective governors. In total, more than 500 elected officials will have their fates decided starting November 6, 2018 but only if voters are registered.
Become part of the solution! If you have recently moved, turned 18 or changed your name, take this opportunity to update your voter registration. I invite you to register to vote and learn more at www.NationalVoterRegistrationDay.org and use #NationalVoterRegistrationDay on social media to spread the word!
